Teach for Austria is an independent member organization of the international Teach For All program, that focuses on creating equal chances to education for children and young adults from low income families and poorly educated backgrounds. They believe that “education is the most important tool countries have for boosting economic growth, increasing prosperity and forging more just, peaceful and equitable societies”. That is why the Fellowship Program was brought into existence.

The Fellowship Program

This program was created for university graduates and young professionals from all sectors who like to work with children and adolescents that run a high risk of dropping out of the educational system early. Fellows will be in direct contact with educators and parents and allow for all children and young adults to have a chance to further educate themselves and be taught on a level that they can keep up with.

In order to achieve that, the Fellow Program offers work in two different areas. Firstly, the “ready”-Program, which takes place in kindergartens and aims to motivate kids to learn, as well as prepare them for an easy-going start into education. Secondly, the “go”-Program, where fellows work with middle school and polytechnic school students to aid them in finding their next step after finishing their compulsory school education.
Fellows complete an intensive training phase and get the opportunity to work as qualified educators for two years at specially challenged schools and kindergartens. The training phase is designed as a leadership program that entails the possibility to attend 1050 hours of training, workshops, as well as development meetings.

The program searches for dedicated graduates who share the same belief that a better-educated generation can improve the well-being of our society as a whole. The new extended deadline for enlisting in the program is the 9th of May 2021. Should that sound like something that piques your interest, then go check it out!
